Question: Have I selected the correct converter for my USA 110V or 120V appliance? Answer: Check the wattage of your appliance, usually shown on a label at the bottom or side where the power cable enters the appliance, or in the manual. This is typically displayed in watts. Choose a converter from the Satronics range that is at least 40% or higher than the wattage shown on the appliance.

Question: The converter makes a humming sound. Is that normal?
Answer: Yes, the humming sound is normal and comes from the internal transformer. However, if it becomes excessively loud over time, check and tighten the screws on the top and side of the outer metal casing if necessary.

Question: The fuse on the back of the converter blew instantly when switched on?
Answer: Verify the wattage of your appliance and ensure it is within the recommended range for the converter model purchased. Check www.satronics.co.za on selecting the correct model..

Question: The transformer gets warm. Is that normal?
Answer: It is normal for the converter to get warm, but it should not become hot. If it does, check to ensure you have selected the correct converter for your appliance.

Question: Certain models have fuse and others have circuit breakers. Models may have a push-button circuit breaker that can be reset after a possible overload. Higher-rated models have in addition a circuit breaker built into the power switch for overload protection.

Question: The two pin US plug does not fit into the front panel?
Answer: Some US two pin plugs have one wider flat pin compared to the other. The front panel of the converter has provision for the this. Ensure you align the two pin US plug correctly. On initial plugin it may be stiff to insert. The first time you insert US plug into socket it may be stiff. Try wiggling the plugs in ensure that its properly aligned.

Question: What is the covered slider voltage switch at the back for?
Answer: Do NOT remove the cover or slide the switch if converter is used in SA

Question: Besides selecting the correct model to match my appliance, are there any other points I should be aware of?
Answer: If you have plugged your 110V or 120V appliance directly into a 220V mains socket without using a converter, the following issues may arise: the appliance’s fuse may blow instantly, the internal circuitry may burn out, or a strange sound may come from the appliance. If this happens, shut off the appliance and take it to an electrical technician.
